About Me

I‘m Rachel – 38 years old, slightly demented and very determined. I live in London with my funny, patient husband. He has normal sperm. I’m a ‘poor responder’ who doesn’t respond very well to stimulation (IVF stimulation, not stimulation in general ). I also have one blocked, one partially blocked tube. We have been trying to conceive for about four years and started IVF in 2014. I started this blog partly to keep track of my own IVF ‘journey’ (hate that word) and to help any women out there who are going through the same stuff. I find blogs enormously helpful.

Some stats featuring lots of infertility acronyms – sorry.

Here’s me:

  • BMI 22
  • Non smoker, non drinker
  • Bloods normal
  • I have had 2 x bowel surgeries for Crohn’s Disease in last 17 years.
  • AMH 8.6 (March 2014 and March 2015)
  • Antral follicle count varies between 5-7
  • Taking conception multivitamin, 600mg CoQ10, 5mg Folic Acid, Omega 3 1000mg daily

 Investigations

  • HSG revealed 1 blocked, 1 partially blocked tube (no evidence of hydrosalpinx)
  • Ultrasound showed multiple uterine fibroids (all external except for one)
  • Hysteroscopy March 2014 –  internal fibroid removed
  • Hysteroscopy Oct 2014 – check for scar tissue, all normal
  • Thyroid normal, karotyping test normal

Found an egg donor in Madrid, Spain.

POSITIVE home pregnancy test! Could this be ‘it’ at long last?

Hi, I found you through Nara’s blog. I read this timeline and just sighed so loudly when I got to the end. I’m so sorry that you’re having to do IVF over, and over, and over again. You are a trooper. I have a blog friend who went through something similar for her first (finally worked) and attempt at a second (she’s called it quits). This is hard stuff. Best of luck as you persevere (because you will persevere!).
